Sanford’s Post 443 eliminates Post 171 and Post 110, but succumbs to Berryhill in the district finals

By Clint Kern

GLADWIN - Post 171’s gnarly bomb explosive shortstop and lead-off man, Whittemore-Prescott’s Tyler Janish ripped a double to ignite the Gladwin crowd and the 171 lineup. Freeland’s speed slasher, the gritty Trey Anderson laid down a precise bunt single. Some poor throws allowed the blazing Janish to roll around and score. Then Clare’s hitting machine beast, James Baer smacked a grounder that permitted Anderson to score. Clare’s Cam Smith smashed a double and Pinconning’s stud, Jordan Holbrook had worked his way on via a base on balls, hustled along the base-paths and busted to home-plate, but a perfect relay was executed by Post 443 and Holbrook was tagged out at home to deflate the rowdy Gladwin crowd and allowed Sanford to escape any further damage in the opening inning at Wilmot Field.

By Clint Kern

GLADWIN – On July 21st the Paul Graveline family regime conducted the 3rd Annual G-Town Run Around 5K Run/Walk. 97 people participated in the 5K from ages 6-80. After a competitor crossed the finish they could drink gatorade or water to rehydrate. They also had apples and bananas to replenish nutrients. There was also a short small kids obstacle course/run. “My family and I are extremely grateful to all the participants, volunteers and sponsors that made the race a success. We always look forward to a fun, family friendly event and this year was no different.  We are already looking forward to next year’s race,” exclaimed Mary Ann (Graveline) Duffy.
