MOUNT PLEASANT – With one quick swing of the bat, the talent laden Mt. Pleasant Drillers had 1-0 lead off a deep dinger from a skillful Chippewa Hills ballplayer. Line Drive Express coach’s Chad Haberland and Big Daddy Stroup told their ladies to shake it off and refocus. That’s exactly what pitcher Heather McNett and her maroon clad defenseman did. Line Drive rolled to route the Drillers, 9-3.

Another NSA State Championship for LDE

Coach Jamie Smith and Dave Ruckle, two of the area’s weathered and gnarled softball gurus, garnered the state trophy despite losing one of the top pitchers in the state in Sarah Appold due to an injury. But the Express girls gritted their teeth, hit the ball when they needed to, rode the Sam Willman work-horse through the tournament in her punishing pitching to regain state bragging rights.
