Beavers hold strong, rally, take the lead, but fall to Pinconning

PINCONNING – After starring on the mound, behind center and on the hardwood for BHS, John Mishler played some baseball at CMU prior to earning his bachelor’s degree in education and collecting a teaching job back home in Beaverton. Coach Mishler has decided to channel his energy into other fields after devoting a great deal of time coaching baseball at Beaverton for 26 years, John orchestrated his final hurrah last week in the district semi-finals versus the perinneal juggernaut baseball mastodons, the Spartans of Pinconning. Beaverton rallied in thrilling fashion to take a 4-3 lead in the top of the 7th inning and lost as Pinny unleashed an offensive flurry to prevail in the bottom of the 7th, 5-4.

Beaverettes lose HR derby to Pinny

Beaverton has always had a strong softball program led by the knowledge and wisdom of Coach Aaron Wentworth, and this year was no different. As many other High School teams have done, the Lady Beavers have had their ups and downs this year, and have improved as the year went along. The team traveled to Pinconning to face off against an unknown opponent with the district title at the fields for handout at the end of the day. The girls had worked their game plan all year long, and planned to bring their bat strength and defensive savvy to the battle that was about to ensue.
